Today, we would like to introduce the name of MVL’s e-TukTuk and its prototype vehicle.
1. Brand name & emblem
Switch Your Mobility Life!
Here is e-TukTuk prepared by MVL, ONiON.
From now on, please call it ONiON T1, instead of e-TukTuk!
ONiON is a combination of ON, which has the meaning of ‘turn on’, and ION, which stands for the lithium ‘ion’ battery, and it contains MVL's aspirations for new innovation through electric vehicle.
Moreover, it uses T, the first alphabet of ‘Tricycle’, to symbolize the first three-wheeled vehicle produced by MVL, and it has become the name of T1.
The emblem which looks similar to a power button emphasizes the brand identity of an electric vehicle.
2. Production of Prototype Vehicle
Through previous posting(MVL’s first Electric vehicle, e-TukTuk), e-TukTuk’s Mecha. prototype vehicle was introduced. Through the Mecha. prototype, we have identified the suitability of the vehicle design. This time, the prototype is manufactured as a source to meet the actual mass production specification, and it will be tested for actual vehicle performance.
Many vehicle parts manufacturers including MVL’s investors such as Myungshin and CTR participated, and the first prototype of ONiON was completed on October 28.
You can see the process of production through images and the video below.
1) Production of BIW
2) Production of internal and external parts
3) Assembling internal & chassis parts
4) Assembling automotive application components
5) Assembling external parts
3. Participation in the 4th Industrial Revolution Festival
At the ‘Korea’s 4th Industrial Revolution Festival’ held from Dec 10 to Dec 12 at Coex, ONiON’s prototype was exhibited. Despite the spread of covid virus, many visitors visited the MVL booth. The main event for this exhibition was showing ONiON’s prototype and the concept of charging stations to the public, of course.
ONiON T1 operates through an electric motor and two 2.25KW battery packs, and it can drive up to 90km when fully charged(at constant speed). The maximum speed is 45 km/h, and it is designed to have similar specifications as local TukTuks, considering safety and acquaintance.
*There may be some adjustments to the specifications above.
MVL is planning to build a private charging infrastructure by constructing charging stations in Cambodia. This station follows the concept of swap-based charging, so it has overcome the problem of conventional electric vehicles’ ‘long charging time’, changing used batteries to ones that are fully charged within 2 minutes. This is a big advantage for the drivers whose time is equivalent to money, and there is no need to wait for a long time for charging as they do in Korea!
With ONiON T1, MVL received the ‘Chairman’s Price of the Ministry of Science and ICT’ at ‘Korea’s 4th Industrial Revolution Awards’. Through this event, MVL was publicly recognized for its technology in the blockchain and the mobility industry and its business growth. MVL will continue to bring mobility innovation through this potential power.
4. Opening of the teaser page of ONiON Mobility
On Jan 20, the teaser page of ONiON Mobility was finally launched.
On its teaser page, only a teaser video showing the concept of ONiON Mobility is released. Design and specifications of the first electric vehicle of ONiON Mobility, ONiON T1, will be unveiled on Mar 25.
