Embracing a Globalizing World with MVL – 3. World within: Vietnam MVLER

11 Oct 2019

Today, we are going to share a new series, “World within: Vietnam MVLER”.

We recently carried out interviews with Vietnamese MVLERs and so we would like to share their stories with you.

As you already know,

MVL TADA Vietnam is currently only available in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

What do Vietnamese drivers think about MVL TADA and the new incentive program?

What does the MVL team look like in Vietnam?

For those who have questions, we have prepared the following interview.

1. How do TADA Drivers in HCMC work?

We held interviews with TADA drivers,

Nguyen Minh Son and Nguyen Chi Tai.

These two drivers have carried out many jobs on TADA and earned favorable reviews to be selected as "Excellent Drivers”.

What do they think about driving on TADA? Let's listen to their stories.

[Introduction of Drivers]

△Driver Nguyen Minh Son

△Driver Nguyen Chi Tai

Q. Hello! Nice to meet you. Wow, you both are wearing TADA T-shirts!

Nguyen Minh Son:

Haha, This TADA T-shirt is for today’s interview. Well, actually, I wear it very often.

Nguyen Chi Tai:

Yes, it is comfortable.
I wore it for the interview, but I usually wear this T-shirt when I drive.

Q. Thank you. On July 26 this year, the MVL Incentive Program was launched in Vietnam.
How many MVL points have you earned so far?

Nguyen Minh Son:

I’ve earned about 165,000 points.

Nguyen Chi Tai:

Currently, I’ve earned about 1,000 points more than 200,000.

Q. You’ve earned quite a lot. Are you familiar with the MVL Incentive Program?

Nguyen Minh Son:

When I read about the new incentive program,
I found out that it depends on the level of each user’s needs
And it is fine for me personally.
Of course, when I first encountered it, there was a bit of confusion,
I only fully understood the program after a few hours.
In fact, it's not an easy incentive program to understand.
It's a blockchain-based incentive system.
Blockchain, it's a difficult word actually.

Nguyen Chi Tai:

I think the incentive program is a good indicator of how committed I am to the MVL ecosystem.
Of course, I don't understand it perfectly.
But I like to see that the more I drive, and the better service I give, the more points I accumulate.
I know I can get various benefits with these points later.
I am looking forward to it.

△Driver Chi Tai had a lot of thoughts on how MVL incentives should be extended in the future.

Q. What do you think about MVL points compared to the incentive programs on other platforms?

Nguyen Minh Son:

Since we are just getting to know the MVL Point System,
It's a little hard to do a clear evaluation or comparison with other platforms.
However, I think blockchain-based incentives are very unusual and attractive.

Q. Has the incentive program been a motivation to carry out more jobs on TADA compared to before?

Nguyen Chi Tai:

Can I tell you the truth? Haha.
Even with the incentive program,
It is true that the fixed-wage is lower than other platforms, so the motivation has not increased as much.
But I am satisfied with the current program.
I also think drivers and riders will learn about TADA more in the future.
I also shared the news about TADA and this incentive program when I met other drivers.
If this blockchain-based incentive program further expands,
It's worth the attraction.

Q. SD program is unique to MVL TADA Vietnam.
What are the pros and cons of the SD program?
(SD program: System Dispatch program)

Nguyen Minh Son:

The advantage is that we don't miss out on a job.
This is because under the SD program,
I can get a new order immediately at the end of my current job.
General drivers are unable to receive new jobs while driving.
But when I'm too tired or when the jobs are too far away,
It is inconvenient because I am unable to cancel it.
For example, sometimes I receive jobs from a further distance when I am about to leave work at midnight.

Nguyen Chi Tai:

The advantage of the SD program is that I can carry out more jobs.
Under the SD program, I can accept jobs while on a current job and check the next pick-up and drop-off points,
So after finishing the trip, I don't have to go looking for the next rider.
It's very efficient. But especially during rush hour,
I would like to go to the city center and take orders,
but under the SD program, I cannot cancel the orders from other regions. So it is difficult to go downtown.

Q. Do you have any last words for MVLERs and TADA users?

Nguyen Minh Son:

TADA is a good platform.
The fare is very reasonable, especially for riders.
It's almost twice as cheap as grab, so please use TADA!
Thank you.

△After the interview, Driver Nguyen Minh Son returns home wearing a TADA T-shirt.

Thanks to the two drivers for their honest interviews.

2. How do our local team members at MVL Vietnam work?

The MVL Team has a branch in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Among them, with Nguyen Thi Thanh Chi, a CS/Marketing Supporter,
we were able to have a deep conversation.
Let's take a look at how MVL TADA Vietnam and MVL are seen by our local staff.

Let's start with the MVL Ho Chi Minh Office.

△The view of the Vietnam office

△Nguyen Thi Thanh Chi, the MVL employee taking pictures with Lamborghini TADA(?)

Q. Hello, nice to meet you! Could you introduce yourself?

A. My name is Nguyen Chi, and I am working as a CS/Marketing supporter.
I’m working to make TADA a friendly application for Vietnamese people,
and to offer our riders the best travel utility.
I am also gaining a lot of experience that I was not able to get before such as learning to think and handle problems.

Q. Are Vietnamese people familiar with incentive programs such as the MVL point system?

A. The majority of customers in Vietnam are gradually becoming familiarized with incentive programs. But not everyone is familiar with MVL incentives yet.

Q. What program received the best response among the existing incentive programs?

A. Recently, most customers have been exchanging their points to vouchers for FNB, travel, cosmetics, etc. Of course, MVL incentives were not available yet.

Q. What do you think about the MVL incentive program?

A. It is quite a good system. However,
I think we need to offer more options to trade the MVL Coin.
It is illegal to trade coins in Vietnam,
Trading fees are very expensive when trading on big global exchanges
so investors have to trade a lot of coins.
I don't think it is an attractive condition for small investors. Am I being too honest?

Q. Haha, It's okay. Then, do you think people in Vietnam are familiar with blockchain technology? Do you know about it?

A. Not everyone, but a small group of people in Vietnam know about blockchain.
The blockchain technology is attractive in that it imposes autonomy on each individual and provides transparency.

Q. What is the perception of TADA in Vietnam? Do many people know about TADA?

A. Since TADA just launched its service in Vietnam,
It's not very popular. It is a new service, isn’t it?
So our team is trying to raise awareness in the local market,
beyond brand awareness carried out online.
Um ... but first, there are so many ride-sharing apps in Vietnam.
We do feel a little pressured when it comes to marketing in terms of capital and other conglomerates.
Not only have taxi companies left the market but so has delivery companies.
Therefore, we are trying to raise the quality of our service to increase customer satisfaction.

Q. Raise the quality of the service… then what is the main marketing strategy of MVL Vietnam team?

A. First, we focus on the content on Facebook and other online channels.
The short term goal is to focus on content strategy in the local market,
to build brand awareness of TADA.

Our mid-term goal is to increase brand awareness through partnerships with various companies and offline activities.
The long term goal is to build a TADA community in the local market.

Q. What do you think are the strengths of TADA compared to other ride-hailing services like Grab?

A. One of the strengths of TADA in the ride-hailing market is zero commission,
helping driver-partners to take their full earnings.
Besides, cheap and stable fare is also a strength to attract riders.
When we compared the fare prices during peak hours,
the cost of using Grab was almost twice as much as TADA.
Grab really does have high fares during rush hours.

Q. I see. Do you have any last words for MVLERs?

A. We are a latecomer in Vietnam.
But it's growing as we are working on several projects.
Especially, Lotte is a famous brand in Vietnam.
(In fact, Lotte Cinema and Lotte Department Store are located in downtown Vietnam.)
We are working with Lotte Rent-A-Car to operate TADA.
Being a latecomer, it's a meaningful move!
Our MVL Vietnam team is working to successfully settle MVL and TADA in Vietnam.
We'll keep on trying our best. Thank you.
