This week, let’s take a look at enchanting Cambodia!
For those of you who are not familiar with Cambodia, it takes about 5 hours to fly from Korea to Cambodia.
It is a country in Southeast Asia and it is famous for a UNESCO World heritage site, Angkor Wat
.
The following explains more about transportation system in Phnom Penh, Cambodia and how TADA operates there.
1. Cambodia Transportation: TAXI? or Tuk-Tuk?
Most of the Koreans will think that the most common road vehicle is the automobile,
since Korea is one of the countries that rely heavily on the automobile.
According to its statistics of national passenger traffic volume and change of share(2016),
automobiles accounted for 61.8%, an overwhelming proportion.
What about Cambodia?
Do you think automobile share of Cambodia transportation is similar to that of Korea?
Let's take a look at the local streets of Cambodia.

Could you find a vehicle that looks somewhat like a motorcycle and somewhat like a carriage?
It is a tricycle vehicle, a.k.a. Tuk-Tuk, which is a common form of transportation in Southeast Asia!

Tuk-tuk is a very popular vehicle, with more than 10,000 Tuk-Tuk drivers only in Phnom Penh!
TADA also offers a ride hailing service with Tuk-Tuk in addition to taxi.
Now, you may wonder which option is the best to travel around Phnom Penh.
Let us share our experience with both TADA taxi and TADA Tuk-Tuk
and compare and analyze the advantages and disadvantages of each type of vehicles.
2. What is a Tuk-Tuk?

First, let's take a quick look at Tuk-Tuk.
As you can see in the picture, it is a tricycle vehicle
and it is a common form of public transport in many countries in Southeast Asia.
Names of this vehicle vary from country to country.
In Cambodia, Thailand, and Laos, it's called ‘Tuk-Tuk’,
In India and Pakistan, ‘Rickshaw’,
In Nepal, ‘tempo’,
In Peru, ‘mototaxi’,
In Bangladesh, ‘baby taxi’.
Styles of Tuk-Tuk vary from country to country as well.
Basically, it is an open-air, three-wheeled vehicle with canvas roof and drop-down side curtains.
The seating capacity is four, including the driver’s seat.
Unlike regular taxis, passengers are not allowed to take a seat in the front
and the back seat is a bit smaller than taxi which can take up to 3 women maximum.
Now, let's take a look at the way to get on TADA Tuk-Tuk ride.

3. How much is a tuk tuk for a day?
In TADA App, you can search through the estimated fare and time to the destination
before you select a type of vehicle by entering a pick-up point and a drop-off point.
Let’s take a 26 minutes ride.

The official currency in Cambodia is riel.
When we went for a 26 minute ride, the Tuk-Tuk fare was 10,100 riel(USD 2.47)
and the taxi fare was about 17,800 riel(USD 4.39)!
The Tuk-Tuk fare is about half the cost of a taxi in Cambodia.
If you take a 26 minute taxi ride, it is about KRW 15,000,
which is only about one-fifth of Korea taxi fare.
Due to such a low fare, Tuk-Tuk is a good way to travel with.
Since the sidewalks in Cambodia are not for walking,
it is not convenient for travelers to walk with a luggage.
If you use low fare Tuk-Tuk, you can experience a tricycle that is unusual in places outside Southeast Asia
and you can make your travel comfortable even with luggage.

Tuk-Tuk, however, lack of windows or doors, meaning you are exposed to polluted streets and heat.
Tuk-Tuk rides for more than 20 minutes could be a bit unpleasant experience.
Therefore, Tuk-Tuk is recommended for short distance trips and taxi is recommended for long distance trips.
Shall we try a taxi ride this time?
4. TADA TAXI for long distance trips!
If you book a TADA Taxi ride, like the way you book a Tuk-Tuk ride,
a driver registered with TADA will come to pick you up!
According to TADA’s internal data,
a TADA Cambodia taxi driver arrives to your pick up point in less than four minutes on average.
We could prove it from our experience, Driver’s responses were immediate and waiting time was very short!

Moreover, you can preview the driver's average star rating when you book a taxi ride,
and most of the TADA drivers received 5 star rating.
In fact, all the drivers we’ve met rarely started conversations with riders and drove us safely to the destinations.
In addition, you can check where you are in real-time basis from the app.
5. Epilogue of Week 4
We’ve shared our experience in Phnom Penh, Cambodia
and that both TADA Tuk-Tuk and TADA Taxi are available!
